Yakima vs. Factory Roof Rack Fuel Economy
Greetings! I am new to the forums, and recently purchased a 1997 4Runner Limited. I am pumped for the new ride. I have a question about roof racks, I was hoping you guys could help me out with. I searched the forums, but could not the specific question I was looking for.
The car came with the factory roof racks installed. I already have a set of Yakima cross bars/fairing/control towers in my garage. I am trying to decide if I should put the yakima racks on the truck (mount with control towers on therails, and remove factory bars), or leave the existing factory bars. I want to know how significant the difference in MPG is between the Yakima racks with fairing, and he existing factory racks. I know racks decrease MPG in general, but I want to know if anyone knows an approximate difference (if any) between the two.
Thanks!
