WOW!!! I did something real dumb.

I was driving my new-to-me 4runner today and nailed a guardrail. I didn't stop for a few miles, hoping it was all a bad dream. When I did stop, the damage was to 4 seperate pieces of fender flair, and rear mud flap, and a few small scratches on the running board. Can this plastic be sanded and painted, or am I looking at getting all new parts? Where can I get them, and what should they cost?

Boy that sux. My experience with plastics is that they are never the same after being scuffed. Maybe someone has a trick.

I'm selling a pair of running boards off my '96 limited. E-mail me if you're interested.

2000 limited. It didn't warp them or crack them, but it took off some of the material. I will post pics tomorrow, and I am going to the local Toyota stealership that has a body shop and he will tell me if he can fix them or if they need to be replaced.

If...

If you only scoffed it you're alright. My mother did it twice in her LC and it was an easy fix. If you took a few chunks out of the material though then I don't know...

If scuffed them I'd sand them a bit then use some body filler sparringly to smooth it out. It'll be expensive to paint though. The limiteds are C/K if I remember correctly, so to make it look right, you'll have to repaint. My 2 cents.

Hey Plamar,

You could always fiberglass the pieces. First fiberglass, then sand. After that, you might need a little body filler if you have any dips or air bubbles that dried. I cracked my M5 front and repaired it myself with fiberglass. If you can't fix it yourself, send it to me and I'll do it for you, no charge. I am almost certain the stealership will NOT fix the part unless the damage is minimal. They don't like to do tedious work. Goodluck.--Acid
