Would this work...?waterproof radio box..

Well, after a recent runin with a DEEP puddle, water up to the windsheild i need to think about how to waterproof sterio,CB and other things. Im also worried about theft with a soft top. 88 4RUNNER

Here is my idea. A box of some material that would be put between the front seats. Inside i would mount my Sterio,CB, and be able to throw valubles in there when leaving the truck. The box would lock and be bolted to the body. They make something like these for jeeps. Also, i would water proof it, so when offroad if i ly ran into deep water again, my electrical components wouldnt fry. Would this work?is there something like this on th emarket?and do you ahve one..pictures?thanks a lot guys...

PS. Cleaning the interior wasnt fun after that flood haha

Exactly how waterproof are you thinking?
Total submergence? Water-resistant?

An ammo can might be what you need... they seal up tight enough to not have to worry about water and they're abundant enough that you don't have to worry about ruining it (minimal cost too).
I know there's a couple of guys who've run an ammo can center console...

Here's one thread:

It's been discussed a lot so a search won't find you too many pictures. Come to think of it, this might be the only one.

He had to add the lock if I remember correctly.
Not too hard to do though.

There are quite a few models so 1 should fit.

What about your ECU? Kind of tough to put that inside a Tuffy box and it is even more important than the stereo.
