Would this be similar to the deck plate mod?

Before I do the plate deck mod, I want to see what it's like before I go cutting holes into my air box...so to test it out would it be similar to just leave the lid of the air box (where you remove the filter) open?

Just do it......it 's worth it. I dont know how you could possibly not like it, but you could always leave the plug in if you did.

Doesn't the lid help keep the filter in place and sealed?

If there's a hole in the air box from the deck plate mod then the filter isn't sealed.

I think X-AWD just meant it seals the rubber seal around the edge of the filter, which IS sealed with the lid closed, regardless of the deckplate hole in the front of the airbox, but yes, if your curious, the open lid 'mod' is like a baby brother to the deckplate mod. But seriously, I dont how you could not like the deckplate (and the ISR too) but if for some reason you didn't, just leave the cover on all the time. you will only be out like $7.
