I was swapping out a transmission in my 99 4runner 3.4 auto and though i had all the connectors unplugged from the wiring harness and forgot one and ripped the wires out the back of the plug. the plastic part is good but i can't get the wires back into it. i believe its the plug for the trans temp sensor. its on the passenger side and right beside the large connector on that side. does anyone know where i can get another plug that has the wires coming out it and i can just splice it in? i looked for spare wiring harness from the local yards but can't find any

I know when I wired my diff lock switch light I had t o pull a locking piece out of the connector to be able to slide the correct wires with their connectors in.

and you can see the white piece I had to pull out that holds the terminal ends in place.

With any luck, yours is a similar situation.

Toyota, as far as I know, does not sell just the pigtails. They do sell the connector housings and any needed pin/wire combos separately. This saves you a lot of change if you just need the housing.

The last five digits of the housing part number are usually molded into the piece. Add those digits to 90980- and you get the full part number for the housing. Then order the wires/pins you need, if any, to complete the repair and away you go. The wire/pin pieces for each connector are listed in the manual linked above.

The manual also has the 'tricks' needed to insert and remove the wire/pin combos from each type of connector housing. This info may be all you need.

What makes it real fun is being in the strange positions needed to repair this.

I am not sure but is the harness group long enough to pull it back into the engine compartment making it so much easier.
