H4 or 9004 from 4crawler? From search everyone on here says to buy from 4crawler, but there are many options on the link, which one to choose?

I am thinking of using GE 9003NH/BP2 Nighthawk, it says 9003 so I would think 9004 wouldn't work, is that right?

I would email 4crawler and tell him what your setup is so he can send you the right part.

I did email him before this post and this is what he replied:

"You need a switched ground harness to match the Toyota switched ground wiring, then you need a connector type to match the type of connectors on your headlight bulbs"

Does it seems clear? I am still clueless.

Seems clear. You need check the connection on the ground harness, but he should be able to tell you what that is based on the year of your truck. The lights you wouldn't know what connectors are there until you receeve them and can compare to the pic. Did you try email GE and see what connector they recommend for that bulb? Send them pics of what he has on his site?

Also, why not just get an upgraded direct replacement for your truck, so you dont have to mess with wiring? (I don't know if you have to replace the whole light housing on your truck or if you can just replace the bulb). I hate electrical stuff.

You need to know what type of headlight bulbs you are running, H4 and 9004 are the two most common types. Easy to tell them apart with a quick look at what you have on your truck/4Runner:

If you have further questions, just ask. Post a picture of the headlight connectors on your vehicle if you are unsire what type they are.

I want the simplest and cheapest way to upgrade my head light. From what I researched in this forum, people seem to recommend replacing the head light wiring harness which will itself seeing an improvement. In addition, replacing the light bulb will dramatically improve night driving.

I also found that Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs we found in Autozone or Pepboys is only good for dry night, in rain or fog, it sucked, and short life. I also don't want to retrofit HID, replace housing or what not which will be more money and trouble, and definitely don't want any bluish useless light. I heard GE should be a good choice.

So if an upgraded harness will do you good to start go pop your hood and pull the plug on the lights and compare to the pics above. Email GE the pic of the harness you have and are going to upgrade and ask what bulb they recommend.

I agree about the Silverstars. There are touchy. You can't even get the oil from your hands on the bulb or they blow out.

your 3rd gen 4runner use's a h4/9003 syle bulb 2nd gen 4runners use a 9004

Any bulb's gonna blow out if you get oil on it, not just silverstars. Also, according to Daniel Stern Lighting's website, there are two silverstars. Sylvania Silverstars are the ones that people say suck, and thhey have a blue coating on the bulb. Sylvania's parent company Osram also makes a bulb called silverstar, but it's a completely different bulb and is comparable to the GE Nighthawks. I just upgraded my lights using Hella e-code housings and Hella halogen 100/80 bulbs, without touching the harness, and I am very satisfied. I haven't had a chance to measure the voltage drop yet, though, so I may be running a less than optimal voltage...

i just got these roundeyes knockoffs. they just pluged in. get 4crawlers harness for better light output, but wow these things are better then the ty sealed bulbs

Most likely that case, but it on takes a minute to pop the hood and pull a connector off one of the headlights to see what it looks like. Or just look at the connector attached to the back of the headlight, the two types are very distinct from each other. That way you will know for sure.
