window tinting question....

I am going to tint my front windows to match my back, 20% I believe is what will match. My question is though, what manufactuer/brand of tint has the closest match to the shade of the factory glass. The factory glass has like a coperish bronze shade to it and I would like that matched.

I had the same thing done about 6 weeks ago. The place I went was pretty reputable and they told me Because it was done at the factory it would be hard to get it exactly the same. They did a good job and it's not really the same color but pretty close. I am happy and I'm probably the only one that really notices the difference right off the bat.
I don't know what brand it is, I just know it's the bake-on stuff.
Good Luck

I put 30% on all the windows. Makes the back darker but covers up that bronze effect in daylight. It is still noticable at night.

Has anyone ever completely blacked out their back windows (from the rear seats back)? I'd like to get that to give the runner more of a "sleek" look, but I was told that the darkest shade of tint eventually turns purple and starts peeling, so Im kinda hesitant.

It all depends on what kind and how good of tint you use. Not all limo tint (5%) will turn purple and peel.

I've got one layer of limo (5%) and a layer of platinum (35%) all the way around. I absolutely love it. My 4runner is black and reflective from the front to the back.

You can do whatever you want inside and no one will now.

or get some :beaver:

Lighter tint is more likely to fade. Eventually all tint will fade or purple depending on how much sun/UV it gets. Better tints will last longer. The 30% I put on top of the factory bronze tint made it quite dark. 5% will definately make it private! It may be dark enough you could in there.

Click on the Attach file box - hit browse and link to that location. All we got was a link on your harddrive. I bet you can see it but guess what - it isn't saved on this server so noone else can.

my tint used LLUMAR film which is the film they use to cover buildings...they supposedly wont fade purple and if they do, there is a lifetime warranty on replacing it if you still own the vehicle...they claim it has metal shards in the film to deflect the UV and keep it from fading...hope that helps...

I have 3M and it also has a lifetime warranty. I had 35% on the front windows and 20% on my old 5.0 and it held up great over 5 years. I have 35% all the way around. With the factory window tint and this stuff it is quite dark. The front windows look light in this picture because the tailgate is down and the sun is shining in the back. You can imagine just how dark the tint in the back is.

I tinted my front windows couple of days ago at 20%, its pretty close match. I have lifetime warranty and cost me about 70usd. You guys think I should put a strip of 6in of tint on the windshield?

Think I should?
