which winch would you want?
I have a decission to make as to which winch i wanna run. My options are teh Mile Marker E9000 or E8000, both i can get for a lil more than 400 or the Warn M6000 for around 750$. What would y'all do? I Just ordered my new tube bumper from 4Wheel parts today for 300$ and need a winch for it now. I got a cheaper bumper than an arb or tjm so i could afford the winch. just wnated to add that to put a stop to the "why didn't you get a TJM or ARB" questions. Pics will come as soon as i have it on. Best part is i got a Free 4WheelParts watch with my purchase. haha

fyi, the us army uses milemarker winches. i've never heard anything bad about them, other than being slow. personally, i don't care if i get unstuck in 10 minutes or 20 minutes, as long as i get out

I have to agree about the Milemarker winches. I have an E8000 and it is SLOW, but it DOESN'T overheat like the "W" brand ones supposedly do. It was cost effective enough that I was able to have some money left over for other important things like the 125' of MasterPull 5/16" synthetic line and the Spidertrax aluminum hawse fairlead as well as the locking snaphook. I am pleased with my purchase and will get another one for my next rig as well.

I have a Ramsey REP8000E and have seen pictures of a Milemarker E8000 both winches look exactly the same winch, control box, remote switch, everything looks identical. Most places that they are for sale the prices are the same also.

Why would using such a line void a warranty?

The US army uses Mile Marker's hydro winches which is what MM is know for. Their electrics are total POSs.
You should get larger than a 6000 pound rated winch. 750 for an M6000 is the biggest rip off I have ever seen. I paid that for my Warn HS9500 brand new from Bent & Twisted 4WD. As Chebby pointed out you can find the M8000 for around 500 at many different places. If you are going electric, stick with Warn. You will be more than happy with a Warn M8000. It is a very good winch, I know tons of people that own one and love it...

You are getting dry humped for that 6k. If you look around, you can get a brand new just about anything else Warn for that much.
Check any of the vendors from PBB or Clemson 4wd.
I know that Central 4wd has a Warn HS9500 with less than 800 shipped.
If you are using it to pull out others, anything Warn makes will work provided it is in the 8k and up range. If you are freeing yourself up an obstacle, I think that the HS winches are the ticket for sure.

well my bumper said it can only hold a max of a 6000 lbs. winch but i know a guy who put a 12000 pound one on his. he jsut had to cut more of the tubeing out of the middle. that's why i was under the impression i had to get the 6000 or something close to it's deminsions. If i can fit the M8000 that that's what i will probably get if i can get one for 499 like cebby says. oh yeah: how much does the warn mounting plate cost? I also need to get one of those. Well for now i'm leaning to the M8000 unless more people can tell me good things about the milemarker E9000 and 8000. If the are POS's than i don't want one but that just might be one man's opinion. Please more input from all. You guys aide in almost all my purchases now a days. thanks

i'm eyeballing that milemarker 9000lb hydraulic they have on the site...they want something like $644 for it, 4wheelparts wants $1000
the only thing that scares me about a hydraulic winch is having to pull myself out if was in danger of hydrolocking or at an angle that my engine couldn't run at. however, it seems that the benefits outweigh the problems

884runner,
Did you buy a Smittbilt tube bumper?I remember reading in a old Performance Products catalog that those bumpers were only rated for up to a 6000lb winch,I just thought that was a misprint in the catalog. The truck in the picture looked like it had a M8000 on it.

Warn winches, 8k, 9k and 9.5k all have the same foot print for mounting.
You can get a reputable 8k winch for 5 bills to your door, just look.
I would not trust my life, or the life of my friends, to a winch on one of those Smitty built things. Get a winch bumper.

yeah it's a smitty bilt tube and it says only a 6000 lbs winch but the m8000 has the same deminsions as the m6000 and same weight and everything and 4wheelparts has free shipping and 499$ for it. I didn't get another type of winch bumper b/c i couldn't afford it and needed a new bumper b/c of a rear end i ran into. I've talked to alot of people and they say they do fine for winching and all of them have larger winches than a M6000.
Flygtenstein: i'd be more than happy to get another type of winch bumper if you pay for it.
