Will tundra brakes work with 15" stock al. wheels?

I've searched and read for over an hour and my head hurts. Do I get to upgrade brakes or am I stuck? 99 2wd 4runner with 15" aluminum stockers. If I am stuck, what's my best option for rotors? Thanks for your patience.

In one word NO. they won't clear the caliper on 15's. jump up to stock or aftermarket 16's and your good to go.

I can vouch for that as well, in fact I went from a 95 with OEM 15 to 98 with OEM 16 when I purchased my 98 4runner. Was able to convince the sales guy to let me keep my tires and wheels from my95 as I had just purchased these tires and the 98 was gonna need new tires so when I tried to swap the wheels, the 15 would not fit over the stock 4runner calipers so the Tundra ... NO WAY. you will have to go to the 16's if you want to have any chance of making them fit. good luck

I have 15" and just upgraded to a better rotor and set of pads, and have no problems stopping. Also flush your brake fluid, it can help tighten things up.

I just got new pads and rotors. Went with Brembo blanks (seem to be popular around here) and Akebono ProACT pads. Great stopping power for my 99 tacoma 4WD. People seem to like the Hawk pads too.

Got my rotors through amazon ($106 shipped for the pair)
Pads through Rockauto

I went to O'reilly's I forget which pads and rotors, but they weren't the cheapest they had. Flush the whole system and make sure you bleed at each wheel.

Autozone rotors. 2 year warranty against warping or defects. Worked great for me. Also, make sure to get new pads while doing this.

Yes but you did not do the upgrade, you only replaced your rotors and pads. If I read the post correctly, the originator was wanting to do the Tundra upgrade and still use his 15" OEM wheels. Stay on topic if you post something saying I got new rotors and pads and did just fine is not the answer to the original post. You only REPLACED your OEM 4runner pads and rotors for another set of 4runner pads and rotors. While you may get a warranty for 2 years if you ride your vehicle hard, you will warp the rotors again.

Once again, your 15 inch OEM wheels will NOT work with either the 199 or the 231 Tundra calipers and rotors. 16 (199) and 17 (231) will fit with minimal trimming of the dust shields. Anything else will require more work. Good luck
