Wierd brake and electrical problem???
Ok, it first started on wed night last week, the marker/instrument light fuse blew, don't know if it was when i turned them on or when they were on previously that morning. swapped the ac fuse in and went home.
today, stopped before hitting a trail, went to start the car, put the brake on and started it, the ABS pump started to go crazy, making that noise for a good 3 seconds. then it wouldnt go out of park. shut it off and restarted with my foot on the brake, same thing, abs pump went crazy. turned it off and waited. put the key to the on position and had a buddy check the brake lights, nothing. popped the fuse and the brake light fuse was popped. swapped it out and it started right up and went into gear no problem. went onto the trail. the brakes were kinda muchy, but i figured that they had some water or something on them from the puddles. didnt think anything about it. got on the road to go back, no blinkers or horn. wierd. headed home and hit the car wash, blasted the brakes really good. they are really really mushy now, i have to push the pedal down a good way before they start to grab, once they grab, they feel fine and stop it no problem. the e-brake also now doesnt hold, it pulls all of the way up, and the car will roll untill it hits the "park" stop when in park. i didnt hit anyhting, no rubbing or scraping, no damage, only articulation. the handbrake cable looks fine too.
it was absolutely fine before this happened.
sorry its long, anyone have any ideas? i thought trailer wiring shorting, but that looks good, Im stumped, havent ever had to chase down an elec gremlin, (except ripping the wiring harness out of a '56 MGA roadster and replacing the Lucas crap...)
Thanks, Kyle
