Why will my key work in doors but not ignition?
Today I made a key for the 82 pickup I bought because it didn't come with a key. I took out the passenger side door lock and took it apart, and made a key by filing down a key blank.
The key works in both door locks, and the gas tank door lock.
No luck getting it to work in the ignition.
On this key I made, I only filed down ONE side of it, meaning the other side is left "blank". The door locks only use one side of the key to align the pins.
Does anyone know if the ignition switch lock uses BOTH sides of the key to align 2 sets of pins for added security? I messed up one side so I'll have to get another blank key if I need to do both sides.
