Why does my manual shift easier in rain

as the title says, why is it that when it is raining I feel like my manual trans in my 99 v6 4runner is easier to use. It is like the rain washes away stuff either in the clutch housing or the slave cylinder.

Once it dries out it is back to sqeaking when depressing the clutch and harder to get between gears (maybe clutch movement now becomes slower). I have tried greasing the pivot fork in the clutch housing before (only used a little grease to avoid getting the plates greased up), but it seems to return to "normal" after a short while.

Any clutch/manual trans gurus have a clue
Thanks

(btw 120k miles on the odometer and orig. clutch).
