Where do you get these Sylvania Silverstars?
I'm not an extra light kind of guy. I have 2 headlights and I want to make the most of them.
So no aftermarket lights for me. Where do I get these Sylvania Silverstars bulbs and how much brighter will the stock lights be. I have wheeled at night with the stockers and I did fine, but more light would be better.

The Siverstars are available at most auto stores and certainly on-line. I bought mine at Autozone, also. If I recall, I paid $40 and sent in a $10 rebate coupon. And I think it's an H4 bulb for my 2000. They are slightly brighter and whiter, but are about the same wattage as the stock bulbs. Expect at least a modest improvement. I believe they're worth the $$'s.

I bought a set of two Silverstars bulbs at Autozone in metro Denver almost three weeks ago. Mine is type #9003. It cost me 14.99 Dollars each while it was on sale. I love it especially in driving during the snowstorm at night. This light bulb did not cause the reflection from the fog or snowy road like PIAA Super White. I like the Silverstars' brightness and whiteness, it is much brighter and better than the factory and PIAA lights. It is just close to an expensive HID, but they're worth to have it.

I am tempted to try these bulbs, as I hate my Piaa Plasma Super Whites.
They have been on the rig for over 3 years now, and they won't blow!
I'm sure a lot of you have heard of Daniel Stern Lighting, he's a guru on this lighting stuff.

Anyway, I had wrote to him a few months back, and here is what he had to say when I asked about a brighter better bulb than the Super Whites.
We do have a write-up in the Tech section here on upgrading your light wiring harness, and that is one thing I have not done yet.
But from all who have done it, it makes a big difference.
Check out the write-up when you get a chance.

Sylvania and Osram I believe are the same company (If you check I think you'll find that Osram of Germany bought out Sylvania a few years back). I also think that the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs and the Osram Silverstar bulbs are the same bulb with the Sylvanias having a blue tint to them, which will block a certain amount of light compared to clear blubs But they will look whiter to on-coming traffic. The clear bulbs on the other hand will put more light on the road, everything else being equal.
The product you're probably looking for is the Osram SilverStar +50%, which stands for 50% more light output than stock due to the precise filament placement and the gas mixture inside the bulb with stock bulb life at a reasonable cost. The light pattern is excellent and it is standard wattage, 55w.

I bought my SilverStars at SCHUCKS in Silverdale - 46 for a package of two. I like them better each night I drive with them, and would make this mod again.
I also bought a set of HELLA 500 clear fog lights that I want to graft into my valance pannel and a set of backup lights to mount on my hitch. Once I have the new garage fixed up I'll start making changes.

Ok, I get a set at Checker. 2 for 50 bucks but I got a free Hot Wheels car so it was worth it.
I'm going out right now ro check em out. In the daylight you can even tell the difference.

One item that I failed to mention...
After installing the Silverstars, I noticed that they tend to have an upper "cutoff" that's more distinct than the stock bulbs. Perhaps this was my imagination, but I adjusted the headlights up a little to compensate and got a slightly longer "throw" straight forward. Since no one has flashed their lights at me, I'm assuming I haven't screwed up the aim enough to have an impact on my state's inspection program.

I think I heard somewhere that a lot of these bulbs are the European design which supposedly accounts for the more distinct "cutoff".
