where to buy e-locker

I read some of the threads here about people putting e-lockers in thier rigs. this is a mod i would like to do. i was just wondering where you guys bought yours from and how much they costed.

also are the e-locker thirds from land cruisers the same as the 4runner ones?

and it is my understanding that if i bought an e-locked third out of the front diff of a rig i could put in my rear diff. is this correct?

I bought mine off of car-part.com I had to get it shipped but it only cost $450 shipped. The elocker third in the front of a land cruiser would fit but it is a high pinion third which would not be a good idea for the rear of a 4runner. The rear third out of a land cruiser is too big and would not fit.

4.56 geared stock e-locker? Those are ghost. I've searched everywhere for one. I don’t think they exist.

Don't you ahve to do some modifications to the axle housing when installing an elocker?

I've been wanting to switch out my third with a stock toy axle with a locker and I dont think its going to work.

Cool

I'm also would like to know about this as well, since I will be re-gearing my truck in the next few months (wife finally calmed down). I also wanted to know what the difference is between an ARB air locker, an e-locker, a Detroit locker and a "lunch box" locker like an Aussie. I hear all of this terminology thrown around but am trying to sort out what it all means. Next question is the same as this thread, where do you find one for a good price. $700+ for an ARB is hard to swallow on top of the re-gear cost. So, I'm looking at other options. Thanks for your help guys.

you can buy a new e-locker for about $800 if you want 4.10, 4.30 or 4.56 gears. other than that, they can often be had from the junkyard.

erik,

look in the offraod tech section and you'll see a "locker FAQ"

definently go there that is where i went first and it helped alot.

so far im leaning towards that bobbridge site. i could get a new one with 4.56 and e-locker for over $700. what i want to find is like a rolled or totalled 4runner with one. been looking on ebay but have had no luck.

please if you guys find one somewhere for a good price let me know.

Why not? Marlin sells high pinnon...it just moves the driveshaft higher.
