Wheel spacers? anybody have them? Wider stance, better stability?
hey guys,
Did a couple quick searches didnt find anything about wheel spacers to give a wider stance and better stability. Anybody tried this with their trucks? maybe 1 inch or 1.25 inch spacers?
My stance is very "skinny" compared to my FJ80 and I wanted to widen it up a bit, but I havent read much about 3rd gens with spacers, any input or pictures?

Marlin cralwer has spacers I think Id check those out. The tall skinny stance has always been helpful for me tho. It helps you fit through tighter spots and between alot of ruts. The only reason I'd run spacers is if I did long travel or SAS and my front and rear were not the same track width.

It is a different option to shaving the a-arms.

That makes sense, but confirms my rightful disdain for wider tires....tall and skinny is the tread of the wise.

hmmm well most of my stuff is expedition style and I doubt an extra inch or 1.25 inches would effect me that much (at least I hope it wouldnt). So other then that there are no concerns? I found some great spacers for 160 shipped (all 4) I think Im going to give them a whirl Im just on the fence about 1 inch or 1.25 inches.

I doubt the 1/4 inch will even be noticeable. I'm not sure as to how wheel spacers affect alignment....if they do at all, but you might have it checked after you put them on if you feel it necessary. I'm not sure though.

I feel I should add that that a large Back Spacing can elimate the need for spacers. A lot of folks found that to run 285's succesfully, greater backspacing on the rims fixed the clearance issue on the control arms.

a 4" BS will clear the A-arms without any problems.. I would rock a set of 1.5" spacers but I may end up messing up my fender flares because I barely clear right now with my 4.5" of lift and 295/75/16's at full turn.

I purchased a set of 1" off of ebay for $69 a set and I have been happy with them ever since, they look just like the others but I found the common name for them are hub adapters, they just adapt 6 lug to 6 lug ,,, the ebay sellers page http://stores.ebay.com/EZ-Accessory
As for wider stance yes but it went from one problem to another "kinda" Initially my 285/75/16 Interco SSR's were rubbing ever so slightly the upper a arm when in a downward or slack suspension state, but not the 285/75/16 BFG AT's because there is a substatial acctual size difference. So I looked and looked and found these adapters bought them installed them and wouldnt you know they didnt rub the arms any more, no sooner did I pull it out of the garage did it sound like the SSR's had come to life and were eating my fenders off. Well they didnt but it sounded like they were so now they rub the fenders but not the frame go figure! As for the BFG they are good sports and dont rub unless in an extreme situation.

i got a 15x8 with 3 3/4 backspace and it gave my truck the best stance. wheels stick out a little more than stock, but not far enough so it looks all ugly. couldnt be happier, and handles and turns way better than stocks. im running 31x10.50x15...but hopefully plan to switch to 32x11.50x15. ill post a pic tomorrow.

i have some on my front end since my rockcrawlers hit my calipers. I have some trouble getting them to center on my wheels which probably causes the front the shake a little more than usual, no big deal tho my truck wobbles a lot period.

I have no additional wobble everything balances out just perfect. I did notice my brother has different lugs on his 02 2Xcab Taco for some reason mine are longermaybe thats just what comes with the limited wheels but he had steelies from the begining so in the event you were using a lug nut that didn't have enough center to it it might allow the rim to center on the wheel spacer.

Well I got them, and threw them on. My stance is vastly improved, but I havent had a high speed test for wobble yet. 50 and below she seems fine so far.. will keep you all posted...
