Wheel Question

I tried these wheels on a 96 4 cylinder tacoma today, but they do not fit. I'm not at all familiar with toyotas past 1994, but I know these wheels came from this generation of tacoma. Is there is a difference between the 4 cylinder and V6 steering and suspension?

I'm surprised they didn't fit. What was rubbing?

Of course they wouldn't fit on a 5-lug 2wd

The wheel centre was slightly too small - wouldn't quite sit on the hub face. some of studs were touching the sides of the wheel holes while others were dead center

could be because your tacoma is a 2wd.

Something is for sure wrong !!

Question is is it your Hub or is the wheel bent.

You could not get the wheel to seat on your hub??

It did not pull on as you got all the lugs nuts on so the shanks could center the wheel??

I own the wheels and was looking to sell them to the owner of the Tacoma. The wheels are not bent, we tried two wheels on his passenger side steer axle and got the same result both times. We didn't try putting the lug nuts on as it was obvious that there was an issue. And yes, the wheel would no seat on the hub and was getting very close to the calliper as well.

I take it you never measured them

It was a Stock Tacoma??

I run them on my 2000 Tacoma.

This has me curious now That the 4 cylinder has bigger hubs

Not sure what you are asking me about measuring, but we didn't measure anything. The guy had recently bought the truck I believe, but it looked unmodified to me. He had unmatching 31" tires on unmatching steel wheels.

I think he is asking if the diameter of the 2wd hub and 4wd hub were measured with a caliper for comparison purposes.

The 2WD (Pre-runner) and the 4WD Tacoma's share the same spindle/hub. I'm honestly perplexed by your problem.

Was there even a pre-runner in 1996?

The owner has found a different set that fit, but before he came over, he mentioned having difficulty finding wheels that fit and I basically guaranteed him they would work so I felt bad when he drove away without them.

So, it may be the 2wd prior to the Pre-Runner and the 4wd did not share the same hubs thus the fitment issues Brendan encountered. Yes?

Well, then you'd have a 5 lug mini thus, the rims would never fit anyway.
