What's my junk worth?
I know this is a bit lame, but I'd like to hear from you on what you think my 4Runner is worth on the street. The wife has given me a mod budget and I'm just not sure this is the rig I want to modify.
Here's the specs--
-1997 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6
-5 speed
-Old Man Emu lift/shocks
-285/75/16 Firestone Destination MT's
-Stock wheels
-TJM-17 bumper
-2 Hella 500 lights on the bumper
-Lock Rite in rear diff
-Bud Built front skid and belly plate
-Tow Package
-148k miles
The interior is very clean and overall the truck is in great shape. It does have some scratches here and there, but cleans up really nice with a good wash and wax.
So, what do you think it's worth? I'm looking for honest opinions, not "$1".

Now I havent slept in 36 hours...but I think I remember a truck looking exactly like that being 2wd, and I cant seem to find if it's 4wd in your post. Makes a big difference. If it's 4x4, you might be able to milk 9.5k out of it to the right buyer, however, a good portion of the buyer market will look at the lock rite and off road gear as a negative. You'd have better luck selling it stock and then parting out the goodies in the classifieds section.

A good formula for appraising a used vehicle:
Add up all your receipts for your parts, multiply by .25 and add that to the appropriate Edmunds TMV for the vehicle's condition.
Your LockWrong decreases value to nearly every buyer that isn't an idiot.
Part out the bumper, skid plates (I'll take them ASAP!) and lights if you want to get a better return.

It is a 4wd. I bought it as you currently see it, only adding the Bud Built skids to it.
I really think I want a new regular cab Tacoma (always liked regular cabs) but know a dealer would rape me trading this one in.

id say if you found an offroader that was looking for a rig similar you could get 9k, anyone who stays completely on pavement your looking at 7.5k as the mods do nothing for them.

How can one man appraise another mans "junk", I didn't think this was that kind of forum. I'm also interested in the skids if you decide to part some things out.

I would say $7k if it is 2WD and somewhere between $8.5-9k if it is 4WD. Def part out the off road stuff as I think you can get that price with it being stock...unless you find an off roader that is looking for exactly what you have.
