what would a custom dual rear exhuast cost for a 03 4runner? I went to a shop locally to ask about alarms and the exhaust. I know the place is over priced but i want to see by how much, but i dont really have anything to compare too. They want a grand for the borla dual exhaust installed (they said everything would be welded), but i want a dual rear exhuast! They told be something around 1200 for a custom install. Is that really high? does that seem reasonable? I dont know never gotten an exhuast system replaced. Thanks Chris

Thats odd. I got a custom Dual-Borla exhaust put on mine from a local shop. They routed the exhaust to go straight out the back on either side of the trailer hitch. Ended up costing $230 for everything: parts and labor.

230 for the exhaust and labor wow thats really cheap. I cant find the dual borla for less then 725 shipping online. THen i need to add labor for the modification and installation as well and the price for the gasket.

ok maybe i should ask is a resonable price for installing a complete exhaust kit like the borla dual??? how much is a resonable price to cut the pipes before the tips and extend the pipes to the back????

chris , keep shopping around for your dual exit exhaust, there is a guy here on richmond terrace in staten island that does custom exhaust work,the name of the shop is crown muffler,he told me if i would lose the spare tire, he could fab up a dual rear exit system using magnaflow muffler(stainless steel) from the cat to the rear using all stainless steel pipes for a about 250 to 300 dopllars, he has pictures of his handy work in a album.this guy is really good, i have the single borla cat back, its a nice system , you cant beat the fit and finish, but it drones on the highway. i was thinking of cutting out the borla muffler and replacing it with a magnaflow but the muffler guy did not want to hack up the borla system.1200 dollars is way to much for a custom exhaust.

hehehehehe... I paid $650 plus shipping for the borla dual exhaust.... and what really is going to impress you is that I paid US$ 50 for installation down here where I live... labor is really cheap here, but obviously I got a special deal cause a friend installed it for $120...

Don't buy a premade system... unless you got tons of money to blow. I paid $815 for the exhaust on my volvo, when I could have paid $300. I paid $100 for my current system (actually 60, my buddy gave me the muffler for christmas) with a tip. Its the stock piping, I am waiting to get either a rear bumper to hold my spare or mount it on the roof and get a dual. But, I was also going to wait til I got a S/C b/c dual exhaust really is just kinda dumb b/c its not a real dual exhaust and w/o the extra push of an SC you just loose torque with so little back pressure. anyway, I guess what I'm getting at is that I will never get a premade exhaust again. Get it done locally, you will not be dissappointed. and you get exactly what you want. side exit, rear exit, exactly how loud you want, what tone it has... get a flowmaster... best for V8s imho.
