Question What socket size for 3vze head bolt?

Well, just blew a head gasket. Hooray! I'm in the process of changing them both. I am ready to pull the driver side head, but my 13mm is too big and the 12mm is too small for the head bolt. I called the stealer and they said it takes a 12.12mm WTF? Is this right? Where would I find such a socket? They also said I should use an impact wrench to remove them. I need a little help guys. Thanks.

Is is a 3vz? It's a 12mm, but it HAS TO BE 12 POINT as well. As far as using an impact wrench, I just used a good quality breaker bar. They're on there like a mf'er, but you can break them loose. If you're not sore the next morning, they weren't torqued on right before!

The rust is affecting the sizing.
Always use a breaker bar to break tight bolts loose first.

Thanks bass, I bet when the stealer said 12.12 they meant a 12 point - 12 mm socket. That makes sense. Those bastards really had me confused for a while there.

12.12mm socket. :pat:

Gotcha. I didn't even pick up that that's what they might have said. Take the time & replace your knock sensor wire & all the gaskets, seals & o-rings while you have it apart (specially ALL the fuel injector o-rings). I had to take my plenum off 4 times to fix fuel leaks, either from not changing the o-rings the first time, or because the first set of o-rings I got for the injectors were WAY too big & kept getting cut up in the fuel rail. Anyway, enjoy!

Well, how did all of this go? Did you use a writeup to go by?

There were a couple of set backs, but she's all back together and running perfectly. No, no write up.
