What kind of mpg in your 3rd gen?
Well, 2 weeks after doing a nice fresh mobil 1 oil change with large ford-style filter, and i pulled off a (what i think is impressive) 20.5mpg driving back and forth from work, about 75/25 highway but 15% the highway was stop n go traffic...
Mods are 265/75's, bush bar with lights and a bud deflector (they were on the truck when i bought it) and a sub box that weighs like 40 lbs.
Normal cruising speed on the highway anywhere from 50-80mph.... i use cruise alot, but i'm usually in the fast lane in the mornings and slow lane on the way home (lol)....
This is the first tank since i've had this truck to get over 500km to a tank (got 530 = 330miles) and thats to 61.4 litres (still have over 8 litres left in the tank).... and i usually get around 18-19mpg, and now im getting 20.5 after a mobil 1 oil change... i think i can get it even better with an truflow MIT/filter/elbow mod... maybe over 21mpg....i think that'd be pretty sweet for a 99' 3.4 auto limited with almost 160,000miles... considering my 89' pushes hard to get 18mpg....
What are all you guys and girls getting? (i know there are lots of threads, i just wanted to brag a little and say if youre mileage is going down, do an oil change!)

ok, this looks like a perfect opportunity to ask a question while answering yours.
on the highway i get almost 275 before i get skurred and get gas, around town, 220-240 depending on driving style.
stock i had the 265/70/16 and now i have 285/75/16.... how do i recalculate it to get the right number?

^^^^ Tire size speedo change calculator!
By the way I get 19-22 mpg depending on where I'm driving, how I'm driving, the weather, the wind, etc., etc., etc.

99 4Runner,3.4, 5 speed, 285/75/16 rubber. 4 people, rear area full of a weeks worth of chit.
Just got back from the coast, around 1300 miles round trip.
Adding up all the gas / miles driven, and doing the math, just a tick over 20 Mpg. city and freeway speeds.

ok... so if my calculations are correct, which they may not be (suck at math) im getting about 18mpg on the highway and about 15mpg in the city... not as bad as i thought, but i would love to get 20mpg on the highway... but i doubt thats possible with all the extra weight on my truck
