What are the HOT new wheels?

I was wondering what everyone thinks are today's hot new wheels.

I have a set of Mickey Thompson by Alcoa Classic wheels 15x10.

I have the stock rims on atm. I am thinking of selling the M/T's. Should I keep the M/T's?

It seems everyone is into the "larger" wheels, e.g. 19" etc.

What is your favorite wheel?

Depends..

Depends on how much off roading you'll do. The capable off road tires are most plentiful in 15" and recently 16". There are limited sizes in 17" - I've only seen a couple of 18", and no 19". If you are going for street, then you can go 19" and bigger with alot of tire options available. So I guess it all depends on how you want to use your rig and the look you are going for.

Personally I like the simulated beadlock look for offroad, like the new MT wheel. My favorite truck "street" wheel is the Boyd Hot Rod.

Good Luck.

Well, I don't really know what today’s HOT wheels are, but I know what I'm going to get. M/T classic II rims. 15x8 or possibly 16x8. I'm saving my $$ for them and I need to get tires at the same time. Not sure on what tires I will be getting. I hear a few others on the board are considering these rims too.

Around here I see a lot of 20-23" rims on Escalades and Escalade EXTs. That's about the only vehicle I would ever consider putting such huge rims on. Of all the Escalades around here, I've only seen about 6 or 7 of them with the stock rims.

I don't think I would go over 17" rims. Excursions with 17" rims and 35" tires look really sweet. I don't mind the sport truck look either as long as it's not too bling blingy.

If you're putting the rims on your Toyota, than anything over 16" may be a bit much unless you have some nice, big tires to even out the ratio. If your Toyota is a 4x4, then larger (like 17 or 18") rims aren't good for trail ridding and what not. You probably know that.

Well, that's all my opinion. It really just boils down to what your taste is.

Have fun.

BTW, a guy in my sociology class has an old (like '91 or so) Mercury Sable with some 18 or 19" chrome rims. They're the kind that don't really have any spokes--it's just like a sheet of chrome with some groves in it.

But just recently as seen in this thread, I am digging the new M/T Classic Lock, as it has the bead lock look which I like.

NOT THE OFFROADERS. the bling-bling crowd may be installing shaniy-azz weheels like that but I would rather leave those to the inner city folk. bigger wheels means less rubber to get hit by a stray bullet in a drive by, that's another reason they like them big.

the bigger your rim the less you'll be able to air-down for offroading also.

It says it's a bolt on ring, but I'm not sure.
It could be part of the wheel.

You like 'em?

I like them. the fake bead-locks. they look like mine only yours has the socket head screws. procomp makes a mock up of those.

Here's what one would look like with "Twunny-fo ILNCH" Blingers!
Hardly any room for rubber!

I dunno if they are "hot" or whatever, but I kinda like American Racing AR-23's (the star shaped ones) ...less common than the "circle with holes" type wheel, but still not bling-bling rice-tastic.

ROTFLMAO !!!

I have the stock 17", 2003, people keep telling me I need bigger tires. I'm not sure you could stuff anything else in there.

if you're lucky, you might try and see if the 16" fit.. Cuz if they do, then you'll have lots of options... If not, then o well until someone comes out w/ rims for ya...

don't forget that your vehicle comes w/ 13" diameter discs.... ( i think - could be wrong) so that could limit ya alot since the calipers might get caught up in the 16"s... if you're close to someone w/ stock 16"s, try em out and see if they fit... if they do, then you're in luck!

good luck

Hey turboale, I know these aren't M/T's but they look like them, made by procomp, the may be a little cheaper at $159 each. not trying to push stuff I just thought since money is an issue and you might not have seen these it might help you out. I got my regular procomps because I didn't like how close the 50 dollar tec-1 black R/C's fit to the calipers.

I ugraded to the 13" discs when I bought mine back in '98 and I have stock 16" wheels. I can't imagine them making the calipers any bigger than they already have for these discs but you never know, they did a lot of dumb stuff with the 2003's. Personally, I think toyota could have made them a little less beefy.

To increase my stock 11" ground clearance to 14" and for more room to articulate. what is it on the 2003 again? they lowered it to 9" didn't they? It'll get high-centered way before I do, even when mine was the stock clearance. I do like the V8 option however. when I said "made them a little less beefy" I was referring to the calipers on my 4Runner.
