5th gear ratio is .838
31s are typically 30.5" tall.
Do the math and a 4.56 axle ratio gets you 2947rpm.
Close enough?

Yo BTrek - don't do it! 3000 at 70mph is already perfect!! Drop too much and you'll lose all the get-up-and-go, and you don't have a lot of that to spare! It will be a dog and you'll hate it. But if you really want to do it, I bet you can trade someone your 4:56s for their 4:10s in a heartbeat.
