What does it take to get to 35's?
I'm getting my 32x11.50's tommorow, but I'm wondering what exactly it will take to move up to 35x12.50's? Maybe 2" spacers all around?

About 2" of body lift and 3-4" of suspension lift if you are going to wheel it. Maybe a 3" body lift will clear it if you only drive on the street. 2" spacers and a modest body lift should clear 33's with enough room to let you wheel it. Also - keep in mind you'll have to regear your differentials for those taller tires.

2-3" suspension lift and 3" body lift with the right wheels will allow you to clear 35s for the street. you will prob rub when you flex it out though.

ive seen 35s run on the street with just a 3in body, but you'll rub when you turn the front wheels or go over a bump, tough to run 35s with IFS but i suppose its possibe. 33s are pretty much the practical limit.

I figured you would need a 10" wide wheel, but would would the ideal backspacing/offset be?
not true, if you get a 35x12.50 you only need an 8in wide rim
i have 33x12.50s and the 8in wide rock crawlers work great. rule of thumb (ive heard) is you dont want the tire more than 4-5 inches wider than the rim or it might lose its seal around a hard corner or under low psi wheelin, but then again ive HEARD of , but not SEEN, people running 14.5 in wide tires on 8in wide rims. just my 2cents.

I'm running 10" Crager's with my 12.5 BFG's. As you can see, I agree with NCSU-4runner in running maybe a 8" wheel with your 11.5's. I had a little mishap (probably because I neglected to air-down!! ) Long story short, I fish-tail'd into a rock on the side of this road.
As for the back spacing, I couldn't really help you out at the moment, I bought this set of wheels/tires from a fellow '88 toy'er. I'll have to wait until after work to measure. Regearing is also a must. I have lost almost all of 5th gear. Be prepared to recalibrate the speedo soon as well. Good luck!

I have a Tough Country 4" susp. lift and 35" TXR tires on 15x10s. No problems here. I have only rubbed one time in the last year or so of having this set up and that was at just the wrong angle hitting a driveway curb at 20. If anyone is worried that 35s will not work then go with 33s. I went with 35s just to get more lift and that was when my lift was new. It has settled down a lot and who knows maybe it will rub when I take it up in the mountains next.

if you REALLY wanted to have 35's what you could do is do a 3" body lift on top of your existing lift you have now, and then get some fiberglass fenders up front to eliminate rubbing at turns and flex.
this with the correct backspacing of your rims and you should be good to run 35's. personally i wouldnt do it because im not a fan of body lifts, but if you really wanted to do it, then thats a way to go about it. just my $.02
