What does the Clutch Start Cancel button do?

Just turn the key to ON and put her in first, hit the clutch cancel button and then turn the key to start, it will jump forward and start up. I didn't know that until my buddy with a Taco was doing it and I said to myself "what the he-ll is he doing now!!???"

Geez Louise, I saw the title of this thread and thought, "How can there be 20+ posts about a clutch start cancel button? That's ridiculous!" Curiousity got the best of me, though, and I even learned something new. 
Like most everyone else, I just thought it was for lazy people who didn't want to push in the clutch when they first started their trucks. I'm going to have to try it now, too.
Kudos to Tatsuo for axing the question.

has anyone tried grounding the CSC button so that it's always on? my clutch needs to be pushed in really far to start, so i end up using the CSC a lot - it would be great to have it permanently on . . . .
any reasons why that wouldn't be a good idea?

probably the little contact switch that the pedal presses in when it is pushed down. that switch is either out of adjustment or fried or shorted out or something.
