What can I use as rear recovery points?
I have a second generation 1990 Surf (Jap 4Runner). On the front it has a fairly tough looking hook which I can use as a recovery point, but nothing at the rear except for what look like two tie-down points underneath either side of the underslung spare wheel (you can just see one at the bottom-right of the attached pic). Can these be used as recovery points or is that a bad idea?
If not, are there any recommended alternatives or ideas for where to weld a custom recovery point?
Thanks

Yeah! you can definitely use those holes for towing out of a tight spot. I used them several times on site when i got stuck in 30 tonne dumper truck tracks and had to get a dozer to pull me out. If it takes that, it'll take anything!

Have a class III recieve hitch intsalled and use that. They're tougher than hell and can also be used to tow. And in the long run will probably save you money rather than having tow hooks welded on.
