What is this box in my engine bay?

Hey guys. This box makes an air noise (let's be honest, it sounds like a fart) every 5 seconds or so after I shut off my '96 Tacoma. If I pull off the circled line it stops. The line just goes down into the frame rail below and I cant follow it past that. What is this? Some sort of vacuum box?

I am trying to figure out why the truck is only blowing luke warm air out at best, I flushed the heater core and not much improvement. Wondering if this has anything to do with that...

96 Tacoma 2.7L 5spd

Thanks for any input!

You really have no idea ??

It is your fuel Evap system in the old days looked more like a black coffee can.

charcoal canister!!

Nothing to do with your lack of heat.

Is the valve opening to allow the coolant flow ??

Bleeding pressure off the tank.

Is the MIL light on?? Any Codes??

Maybe you just never took notice.

Had any work been done in the engine or gas tank areas ??? Perhaps got some lines on wrong?

Light is not on, I replaced the starter a couple months back that's about all the recent engine work.

Ok will do. just disconnect them at both ends and blow air through?
I cant even see where the suspect line goes to...it just goes into the drivers frame rail. Ill try to have a better look tonight.

THanks!

the line is "vent to frame" that is all it does. The valve clicking noise you hear is normal. No codes, no problems.

As far as the heat goes, it could be someone kicked off one of the cables for the flaps in the heater system.
