Went to Hawaii last week

It was an awesome vacation. Stayed with my old buddy/roomate from college who now lives in Honolulu. Of course I was blown away by the views and beautiful women, but for the purposes of the forum, I have never seen so many lifted trucks before. I'd say a good majority of them were Toyotas. We cruised around the island quite a bit and at one point we passed a convoy of about five early 80's extremely jacked up Toyota pickups covered with mud. Sorry no pictures. I only saw one lifted 3rd Gen 4Runner.
I came across Wet Okole, but it was a Monday and they apparently are closed Monday's They did have a display window that I peaked into. It's probably good they were closed because I would have definitely spent some serious money there. The covers look awesome.

Here is a Police 4Runner parked in front of the police station in Waikiki. complete with a set of black/grey wet okoles on the front seats.

This 4Runner was all smashed on the passenger side and is used to run shrimp and supplies at this shrimp farm along with an old, lifted toy pickup. The shrimp is cooked and sold in that old van behind the 4Runner. Jeep on the left is my buddies. He was nice enough to let us use it whenever we wanted. I did spend some time underneath it too replacing the starter one morning.

I wasted $200 bucks renting this Mustang conv. for 2 days. It was fun but V6 + automatic is lame. Especially the way Ford auto trannies shift..sluggish and non responsive.

Can't wait to go back. It's snowing out here in CT.

Sounds like fun. I am going on a cruise to Hawaii for my graduation present in may.

Where is the wet okole store at? I've gotta drop by there!

It was fun. It had everything I could ask for...beautiful women, beaches, scenary and lot's of bars & places to go to in the city at night. Rush hour traffic sucked though.
The store is right on the main drag that leads into downtown Waikiki. You can't miss it. The Wet Okole website has a link to it on a map I think.

If you want to see lifted 4Runners then you have to make it over to Maui. They are all over and there is like eight 3rd gens with 6in of lift on 33s and few solid axle conversion Runners. Me, I just have 285 with SAWs.

When I was in Maui I saw a black 3rd gen with a lift that looked like it was around 8-10"

There is a 3rd gen black one with solid axle front end, a lot of those I see unfortunately are RoadRunners, or what I call all show-no go.

I miss Hawaii and want to go back and see how it's changed since I lived there back in '80-'83.

I've never been to Oahu. Since I'm going in a couple of weeks what are some of the things that I should see and do.

I like the Police Runner!

I have been to all the Islands, and Kauai is by far the best, IMO.

If you want to do a hike, go to Diamond Head. It costs I think $6 altogether for parking and admission for me and my cousin. It killed a couple hours and the view from the top was very cool. SOme of the pictures in the previous link were taken there. Just go in the morning because it gets hot.
We also saw a surfing competion on the North Shore which was awesome. I've never seen waves like that before. Definitely head out there. YOu'll pass the Dole plantation on the way.
We unfortunately missed Pearl Harbor because of two days of rain. I did however get a picture of the Arizona memorial and the Missouri from a 6 passenger plane we chartered. That flight took us around Kauai and made for some awesome views/pictures.
The polynesian cultural center was beautiful. Too much hoola dancing though-started to get annoying after a couple hours. Kind of expensive too but I fell in love (I think we all did) with our tour guide who is from New Zealand, so it was worth it. Her accent was killer.
We hung out with some local friends who took us to nice beaches where the waves weren't too harsh. There's always Waikiki which is full of tourists if you are into that sort of thing.
Just be sure to pick up one of those magazines in any tourist store/shop "101 things to do in Oahu" That will give you plenty of ideas for activites.

The best investment for Hawaii trips besides flippers and sunscreen. This just happens to be for the Big Island, but the same author has books on the other islands. Dont leave home without it!

Thanks for the ideas. I have my flippers and snorkel from the last trip, hopefully I get a little snorkeling in. I also want to get some surfing in, I've only done it once but caught on pretty quick, it's a blast.
