Well, One more tranny q
I got my tranny back. If anyone recalls, my tranny locked up on my 86 22re 4x and i was gonna pick up used tranny, but the one i had my eye on left pretty quick and i decided to pull the tranny and see what the problem was. i found out that the bearing behind 5th gear had blown and looked like some of the bearing trash had gotten into the teeth of 5th and 5th counter gear. i thought i'd found the problem and asked my tranny guy to change the broke parts. BUT, after putting the tranny back in i've noticed the same noise i'd heard before she locked.
i'm trying to decide if it's the input shaft bearing. i've got a "clunking" noise. low pitched, not a squeal or high pitch noise. when the clutch is depressed it goes away. i can hear it through all gears, and in neutral when the clutch is let out.
the part that confuses me (as to whether its the input shaft bearing) is that it doesn't go away in 4th like i've read hear in other posts. i'm pretty sure it's something on the input shaft because it turns with the crankshaft when the clutch is let out................right? lol
thanx ya'll
