Weird brake problem

Hi, So I'm having an issue with my brakes sort of locking up? It's on a 96 Tacoma with 3" lift. What happens is as I slow down to a stop the brakes work fine and at the last second lock up. It feels like if you slowed down for a stop sign and once the truck was ~2-3 mph slammed the pedal to the floor. Any body have any ideas what may be causing this...and I don't think its my foot I already recalibrated that? Thanks

No one has any ideas? What does the brake part attached to the rear axle do and how does it work? This is the part that is connected to the brake lineand is like a lever arm, I believe maybe a proprtioning valve for when the truck has alot of wieght in it. Can someone explain what this does and if it would be affecting the brakes as described above.

What you are describing is the rear proportioning valve. What it does is as the rear of the vehical lifts up under braking(front nosedives) It reduces the rear brake preasure going to the rear wheel cylinders,so the rear wheels do not lock up...Also if the rear of the vehical is weighted down it allows maximum pressure to be applied to the rear wheel cylinders since there is now going to be better traction.

A 3" lift will certainly move the lever...you will need to adjust the rod down...I can't remember, but I believe it should be horizontal....

Anyone with a Taco look underneith there truck...?
