I was reading 1Runner's post about buying some things for his rig and read that Salue has WEATHERTECH Vent Visors.

I need some pictures with rigs with both the VENTSHADE Stick on vent visors and the weathertech channel ventvisors.

I would like a side shot of all four doors so that I can stick pics side by side and compare.

I like the idea of not using the 3m adhesive strips because as the longer they stay on the vehicle the more noisy they get. My father has a set on his Nissan 1986.5 Hardbody. The wind has worked its way through the 3m adhesive and it creates a whistling noise.

I would think that the weathertech would be a better option?? T

Any opinions out there????

Dude, WeatherTech is the way to go. I had both and there really isn't any comparison!

Pros: The Weathertech looks better because it is flush to the body, looks integral to the body and less obtrusive because it is tucked into the window channel.

Cons: The Weathertech will cause the window channel weatherstripping to be stressed and in the event that the visor(s) is removed, witll compromise the seal of the window channel weatherstripping. The visors will in some instances cause the top edge of the window to sustain scratches.

Hey anyone know where to get the weathertech weatherflectors cheaper than they sell on the official site???? hehe just wondering because I want to get a set for my 4runner and would be cool if I could find it for less than 80 bucks.

Performance products also makes an in-channel rain guard, I like the looks better than weathertech because they are more tinted.

I had the WeatherTechs for about a week and returned them. I was absolutely sure they wouldn't fit and would snap in half trying to put them in the channels. Plus, I found the darker ones on PP's site, and liked the look of them better. Same deal though, you really have to bend the heck out of them to go in, and I'm sure the WeatherTechs would have fit just fine. Overall, I'd say the WeatherTechs were a little higher quality than the Performance Products ones. They just looked like someone put a little more effort into making them to me.
Question for anyone who has either kind: I'm having issues with my auto-up windows now. Every now and then there will be too much resistance when the window is going past the acryllic and it will roll itself back down halfway. It happens more often on the drivers side window. I guess the window thinks it's a finger or something
I've tried adjusting them, but they're in there pretty solid and don't seem to move that much. I'm kindof hoping as they get settled in and squish themselves into the molding, it will quit. Anyone else seen this happen?

What is happening is that the bottom and/or the edge of your vent visors is being hit by the window on the way up.

What I did was to fold up some paper, wedge it under the vent visor and let it sit there for about 48 hours. This put enough pressure on the vent visor and the weather strip to allow for some space for the window. Never had a problem since.

Here is a pic of my Performance Products vent visors. I think that they are made by weathertech.

My thoughts:
I bought my 4Runner in Dec 01 and bought the visors in Jan 02, like an idiot I got anxious and installed them in 40 degree weather. Well the 3m tape didn't stick very well in the corners.

Last month (Feb 03) I decided to take them off (before they flew off on their own) and put new tape on it. All was going well until I took off the visor on the right rear visor and OH S**T!! It took off about a 1 inch long by 1/4 inch wide strip of paint!! So I went to Toyota and got some touch-up paint and filled in the stripped area. At that point I was thinking of buying the in-channel visors, but I would still have this ugly and obvious touched-up part. So I decided to put new tape on it and reinstall the visors. This time, I installed it at my brothers place in Las Vegas (70 degree weather) so the tape adheared much better. I like the looks of the ones I have, and I hope that the tape will last longer this time.
