What the heck size washer do I need for the 24mm fill and drain bolts on the tranny, diffs etc etc.?
If anyone knows the equivalent non-metric, American size washer that will fit the 24mm bolt that would be helpful too.


My truck is currently being, ahem, repaired - but I still want to stop by the hardware store to get the washers so I can work on it this weekend.

It is an aluminum crush gasket. It is avail from the dealer. I don't have the specific torque values for them but search and they'll be found on this board.

thats wierd because I called the dealer and they said that they dont use any kind of crush gasket on the bolts - in fact the guy I talked to said they dont even replace the washer that is allready on there....


still anyone know the size of the washer so that I dont have to pay extra at the dealer? (I allready have the torque values) Does the washer have to be aluminum? whats up with that?

I've sucessfully re-used them in the past on more than one occasion. If it is not leaking, don't bother replacing it. If you do, I suggest you get an original one from the dealer. Yes it should be aluminum in order for it to deform and seal properly once you tighten your drain plug.

The dealer part no. for the crush type washer for the tranny/transfer case and rear diff is:

12157-10010

The regular type is:

90430-18008

You can probably re-use the regular washers already on the vehicle, I found out Toyota does. You may be surprised to find out they only have two washer in stock.

The one for your front differential is probably different altogether, mine was, and it takes a 10mm hex for the drain and 12mm for the fill plug. I may have that backwards, but I had to use a hex wrench on both and the washer are different. I would definitely get new ones for those as you can't see if it is leaking with the skid plate on.

its cheap insurance for your rig, pick up a bunch from the dealer. no sense in using the old one and having it not seal properly and bleed the fluids out. cost comparrison on crush washers and rebuilding parts of your drive train, the dealer can afford to reuse the old ones, they are betting against it leaking.
