VIN questions

Just wondering what everything means in a Yota VIN. I searched but found nothing.

4TAWM72N4XZ489116 is the VIN I am lookin at. I know with ford ones, I tell from lookin at the VIN the tranny, engine where it was made etc. The VIN decoders I see online for yota's only tell me where it was made.

Any help? Thanks

Must have a Tacoma since it was made in the U.S. The "4" as the first number gives it away.

Well maybe if I owned one, and wasn't in the process of trying to learn things to BUY ONE I could read it in the owners manual.

Now kids, don't make me come back there or else we're turing this forum around and going home!

As for the owners manual, do a search on eBay as they turn up there all the time, as do the Factory Service Manuals.

BTW, welcome to the board both of you. What year/model/mods/pics do you have of your rigs?

1991 Bronco 351W, rebuilt E4OD, 6" lift(Superlift and skyjacker), 35" BFG muds, put a cd player and bass tube in it, Uniden CB, some offroad lights and a pushbar.

It's gettin sold for a Taco that will get better than 10mpg and has under 130k miles on it

and a clean one

Fiend, I hear ya about loosin the gas hog. I just dumped an '85 F250 with a 460 (how about 8!! mpg), and just bought the 2002 X-cab/2.7 this past Nov. As I commute Ca/Ak every 6 months, Im real happy hauling all the gear I need at 22-23mpg.

The TLC Ive owned for 34 years now, and still runs like a top. I mean a Toy(ota). Toyota reliability, thats why I have two of them now.

And Forum, whats for the welcome.

Dont know if you care but I ran a CarFax on that VIN and no problems came up. If you want the full report let me know.

Good luck with the truck buying
