Valve Body upgrade, new option to L10
Hey guys-
I've been doing some research into having my valve body upgraded for increased power. Import Performance Transmissions has a very good reputation with the Supra community and if you search on www.supraforums.com you will see they are well spoken of. They quoted my $495 to for the upgrade, which is substantially cheaper than another shop that does it. I haven't had the upgrade done yet, but if I do it will probably be through them. Just thought I'd throw out some other options.
BTW, in case anyone is interested in having their whole tranny rebuilt there is a shop in Texas that does the whole clutch rebuild, etc. for ~$1800, which is a great price. Their tranny is currently in a 10 second car and is used as a daily driver.

I've just heard from a couple of people that you can tell the shop doing the upgrade how hard you want it to shift, which tells me there is some variance to how they do the adjustments. Makes sense to me. What about you?

Oh, yeah I had read that too. I'm not sure how they do that. Most descriptions of the upgrade are pretty generic and they don't get into the nitty gritty.

I agree! I would just discuss it with both shops and see what you think from your discussions. Maybe we can find out what they can actually do to make it different, and then decide ho we want to have it setup. If I get it done in the near future, I would want it to shift as short as possible, which, from what I understand, is the best way to minimize heat buildup in the tranny.

I am not a transmission Maven by any means but I think the changes are made through changes in oil orifices, usually enlarging them and also installing stiffer springs. My only caution to you through past experience is that a rock hard tire chirping shift does not mean it is better for transmission life or for your ET.
