V6 gears in my 4 cyl truck?

a local guy is selling a new set of 4.88 V6 gears front and rear with install kits for $700. Will these fit in place of my 4 cylinder 4.10s and is this a good price?

You know they were selling a kit through Randy's Ring and pinion w/ master install and yukon front and rear gears for $389 at least a couple months ago.
Anyways I would say $700 if they installed them but not $700 for a gearset that's a rip off.

V6 gears won't work in a 4 cyl, but the 4cyl gears will work in the V6 housing. The pinion shaft on the V6 is shorter and the pinion head is bigger (I think this is what the difference is) than the 4cyl. Most companies use 4cyl gears for the V6 housing and just stack a few shims under the pinion head the raise it to the right level. This is what I had to do with mine when I regeared.

IFS gears are all the same though (V6 or 4cyl).
