V1 Radar

I always wanted one so I bought a new Valentine1 radar with the extra concealed display. I was wondering where others have mounted theirs to get the best coverage. I was thinking a good spot would be near the rearview mirror, and I saw someone put the display above the steering cover, but what other options do we have?

thanks

Hey man,
Congrats on the best radar-detector on the planet! Once you are used to it, you'll never want to drive w/o it! I don't know how tall you are, but i'm really tall and I have considered getting the concieled display but... to be honest... I like the screen right were it is. Its right in my field of vision and thats the most important thing. When it goes off, you don't want to have to look for something, you want it to be right there (less time not looking where your headed!) So, I just use the regular dysplay and have it mounted just to the right of my rear-view mirror. Also, the higher it is mounted the better reception, so you get the best of both worlds. I have had mine for 3 years, so I still have the fat version.

mount the receiver up high, mine is actually above & to the side of the rearview mount...the wire and bits they provide work great to put the wire through the headliner, leave the curly pigtail one hanging out by the rearview and send the long one thru the headliner and down wherever you want it. i'll probably stick the remote display down with the other guages somewhere, i dont like having to redirect my vision to the rearview when i'm going fast enough to worry about the fuzzbuster...more worried about whats in front.

awesome, thanks guys

I will mount it up by the rearview to get the best reception. I'm still up in the air about the remote display though, I am not a tall dood like turboale, so I need something closer to eye-level: for me it is near the footwells

I put my display on the steering column, right in front of me. I mounted the detector as high up as I could get it, just to the left of the mirror. It does not interfere with the sun visor.

Does anyone know if windshield tint would interfere with it?

I have mine attached to the passenger side visor.

I have the remote display installed behind the speed lense right below the speedo. It fits perfectly in there.

metallic tint will interfere, regular tint shouldnt interfere provided it doesnt block laser.

Hey, guys with newer models...?

Do you have problems with trailblazers and avalanche's 3rd brake light? I think its a neon tube b/c it always makes my V1 go crazy, and it thinks its lazer. Do the new models remedy that? I'm debating the upgrade. Also, if you use the dysplay put the V1 on the far side of the mirror as high as you can but keep the sensors under the little bit of tint. Whether it does anything or not who knows, but it sure can't help.
