Update on a throttle problem

Hey guys,

Just wanted to update on how I eventually solved a problem with my 2000 4Runner idle speed. (Idle speed would not drop below 1100 rpm when the car was stopped at a light, or just at idle --- it's a 5 speed, so I really noticed it when shifting into first from a dead stop.)

Here is what I had done: 30K tune, incliding plugs, wires, fuel and air filter, timing belt and water pump, then replaced the IAC and the CTS,then checked and cleaned the Aux Air valve (some corrosion there due to a coolant leak). Still had the problem, so I finally told my mechanic to REPLACE THE TPS! He kept saying that wasn't the problem, but it didn't cost much, so i told him to do it, and it worked. On to a new mechanic!

quick question: what would be the best replacement tires for this rig? I generally go with all-season radials, and the rig has 50k miles on the original rubber. I use it to commute to work, but I do take it over-sand (fishing) and tow a boat several times a year, plus winter here in Boston can be nasty, so I was wondering what the best tire would be for me in terms of value. Don't want to spend over $700 - $800 -at most-.

appreciate it.

Re the tires: I've used Toyo Open Country A/Ts on my 4Runner and now my Tacoma. I use my truck the way you do and have found the Toyo's to be an excellent tire. They should be in your price range, too.

regarding tires a number of us are fond of the Nitto Terra Grapplers in the 265/75/16 size load range D should be fine, load range E if your boat is a heavy one.

Thanks for the update on the TPS-throttle position sensor I believe it is,
