Uneven brake pad wear

Yesterday I noticed a constant sound coming from one of my brakes so I figured i would give it a look today. When I took the wheel off, turned out it was a wear indicator dragging on the rotor. The pad on the other side of the rotor was only worn slightly and had 2-3 more times material left on the pad. I'm under the assumption that there is a problem with the caliper causing this problem.

Would my best bet to eliminate this problem be to replace the whole caliper when I do my brakes?

this happened to me when i changed my brakes as well. the inside pad is the pad that the pistons push against the rotor, so it gets worn out quicker than the outerside pad. if the rotor is badly warped or warped in any way i would change it out as well as the pads. that way the old rotor wont eat up the new pads if its worn or grooved. Also, what i did was switch the outside pads with the inside pads after a while so they get an even wear. if none of this works then i guess you should just get a new caliper or go to a shop and see what they think. hope this helped.

Its the outside pad that's worn on mine. Also, the pistons push from both sides so they should wear at the same rate.

Id say the pads with less wear are maybe hung up and caused the other pad to do the work wearing quicker.

Had it been pulling to one side or the other? Any pulsing of the break pedal when braking?

Make sure there are no poinches in the brake lines too.

The outer pads on one of my calipers are wearing two times faster than the inner pads. The brake lines to it are fine and there has been no pulling when braking. It does shake on hard braking but I think thats due to the rotors warping when they heat up. I guess the pistons are hanging up on one side.

Does anyone know a good source for caliper rebuild kits?

Rotors get warped and stay warped.
My diagnosis is the calipers are fine if it
doesnt pull to one side or the other.

Get your rotors turned and do some fresh
pads
