tune up for 3.4l?

i have done several searches for tune ups and i have not come up with any results here. there is nothing in the tech section either. i have flipped these boards upside down already. i was wondering if someone could tell me or do a write up on a tune up for the 3.4l. i am confused about it since someone told me they don't use distributor caps and the like. any help would be appreciated.

A great deal of how much is needed to be done and how much you want to do depends on several factors.

1. Mileage!!!!
2. What has been done in the past.
3. What are your mechanical abilities (experience, tools, space, ect...)

So with these questions posed, I'll give you a bit of an idea on what might be done.

1. Spark Plugs - stick with NGK or Nippon Denso. Apply antiseize and torque to correct value (26ft lbs, if I recall)
2. New Air Filter - no brainer
3. Clean intake/throttle body - use a throttle body cleaner and toothbrush
4. Flush/Fill Cooling System
5. Flush brake system with fresh brake fluid
6. New oil/filter
7. Rotate Tires
8. Lube Drive line at all zerk fittings
9. Drain Refill Front/Rear Differentials with new Gear Oil
10. If Manual Transmission, drain/refill tranny & transfer case
11. If Automatic flush/refill tranny
12. New Belts
13. Flush/Refill Power Stearing Pump with new fluid
14. Clean PCV Valve
15. Clean Engine/underside of vehicle

These are just a few thoughts and ideas. Send the answers to the above questions and I'm sure others will chime in.

Just to clarify...I believe the 3.4L uses 3 coil packs (on one bank of cylinders), and from those coil packs run 3 plug wires to the bank of cylinders on the other side of the engine. At only 108K, I wouldn't think you need new coil packs or plug wires.

Yep - it uses coils as mentioned. I replaced mine around 115K "just because". I did notice a bit improvement in respose and MPG with the newer wires. Used OEM Toyota wires. I'd say at 108K just about everything on the list would need doing. Unless it was done recently.

Also left off: New Fuel Filter!!!!
