Tundra brakes on today!

It went smooth as butter. They actually came off a sequoia. I bought new ceramic pads, and borrowed a friend's tourque wrench, and went at it.

Once I bled them, I went out and bedded them, and now they are 100%

I also changed my oil over to M1 with a M1 extended life 3.0L taurus filter. It took all 6 quarts, and is still not full, I need another half quart.

The tourque wrench I used was not the click kind, it was the bending kind with the needle, and it was about 15 years old. Does anyone else think that 85 ft/lbs seems really weak? I just felt kind of uncomfortable knowing that there was another 1/2 turn I could've gotten out of those lugs using a 4-way. But it could have been an inaccurate wrench also.

PS, what should I do with my old calipers? Could someone that has gone from 15 to 16" wheels use this as an upgrade? Should I just save them? They sure are heavy!

85 ft/lbs is about right (usually it is more like 90 - 95 for light trucks but the manual says less...)

And yeah it will feel a little "lose" and you could get more. But that is also what can cause warping/help it along. Stay with what the book says.

And i think the wrench is fine, those old bending kind don't really ware out unless you use them everyday.

Depends on the length of the handle.

I didn't take pics, only because I know that there are a few threads already around with pics comparing the size of the rotors and such.

I had become so used to the hard vibration, I found myself gripping the wheel and tensing up when I was about to brake. Now I can just RELAX.

On another note: Cinco De Mayo was my 1 year with the runner. I am going to focus on the problems that need to be fixed before I do any more mods. I have the shift silenoid problem, the o2 censor, and the cat needs to be replaced. Other than that I couldnt be happier after ~30k miles with her.

eeh. I dont know about that one. I believe that in 03 they all started getting 231mm calipers, so it must have been -02

Yeah thats what i thought. I always thought they never went to the 231mm upgrade because those damned thing already have rear disc brakes = (
