Transmission Shift Celenoid "B" Code

I have a 1996 Toyota 4Runner V6 which is pulling a code for a "Transmission Shift Celenoid B". I need to know if anyone out there knows for certain which celonoid is listed as "B".

According to Toyota the celenoid's are listed as 1, 2, & 3 and I have a Diagram showing me where each of these are.

According to the diagram #s 2 & 3 are the same part # and #1 is different.

I have a feeling that "B" refers to #2 but it is an electrical componant and I will be unable to return it if I buy the wrong one; a $179 mistake.

Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Kris

Wow! $179 for one solenoid? I had no idea they were so expensive. I see now why you just want to replace the bad one. Sorry I can't answer which is which. BTW wecome to YT!

Looks like you can get all 3 for $173.50 here: http://www.bulkpart.com/Merchant2/me...roduct_Count=0

Yeah, Napa has "a" Shift Celenoid for $89 bucks but they can't tell me which one it is...I did get a diagram from the Parts guys at my local dealer to tell them apart but at this point I'm still rolling the dice...got a 66% chance I'll be buying the right part...those aren't bad odds I guess lol.

Thanks again for trying to help me out this morning. The Photo's of your Tacoma will definately help me do the job once I find the right part.

That's a much better price, but those parts don't look like they're the right ones...

As far as the OBDII codes, and which solenoid to check for each code, check the shift solenoid valve No. 1 when DTC P0750 (Shift Solenoid ”A” Malfunction) is output, check shift solenoid valve No. 2 when DTC P0755 (Shift Solenoid ”B” Malfunction) is output, check the shift solenoid valve SL when DTC P0770 (Shift Solenoid ”E” Malfunction) is output, and check the shift solenoid valve SLT when DTC P1760 (Linear Solenoid for Line Pressure Control Circuit Malfunction) is output.

Drop the pan and use an ohm meter to check each soleniod. They typically meter out at around 5 ohms. Obviously if you are having shift problems then one of them should read nothing or a very high number. This way you will know for shure.

I appreciate the help guys. I guess I will drop the pan and test the Solenoids before I buy the part. Better to be sure after dropping the pan twice than to get stuck with the wrong part.

Thanks again ~ I'll let you know how it turns out.

Kit

So it sounds like you ordered the Kit for 150 bucks from Oregon Performance Transmission. The last part of the thread looks like its from today, so you probably haven't received the kit yet...were they able to confirm that this kit was definitely for a 1996-2002 4 runner V6
I just sent them an Email to confirm it is the correct part (says 1985-2005 on the description) and confirm shipping.

I think it is the right one...

Kit is still not in...I specifically didn't ask them but did some cross-checks with other vendors to see if the industry part number for the master kit matched up (like bulkparts.com for instance).... But I will give a final update on my original thread once I go through the solenoid R&R! Let us know what Oregon Parts reply says....

Selenoids Replaced still P0755

I had a P0755 code and had all three Selenoids replaced. The shop drove it around for about 25 miles and no problem. I drove it home, about 18 miles and the light came on.

What should be the next step to figure out the problem. Any help would be appreciated. The shop said that the could have to rewire from the computer to the tranny. $$$$$$

My 4runner is slowly becoming a MONEY PIT.......

Could be something plugged up in the valve body. Has the tranny received regular fluid changes and filter and pan cleanings all it's life?
