Transmission and power steering cooler?

I am thinking about getting a tranny and ps cooler... Did a search and couldn't come up with much regarding the ps cooler... Would it basically be the same thing as the tranny cooler since it uses ATF fluid?

For the tranny cooler, I was thinking the Hayden 678... Any idea what I should use for the ps cooler? Same thing?

Know nothing about a ps cooler but the Hayden model you wrote down is what I've read. I bought one but have yet to put it on. I'm expecting in the next week or so. It was like $60 shipped. Only doing it to extend the life of the tranny; no towing in my future.

BTW, I'm slowly putting on all the bolt-on stuff so I can justify a s/c down the road. I believe all the s/c guys have a tranny cooler.

yeah bro... I think the $60 for added insurance is a good thing. Also want to get one for my ps since i am running larger tires and would rather be safe than sorry.

never heard of a PS cooler, but I would bet a small hayden or trans cooler will do what you need as long as it can handle the pressure.

The cooler should never be put on the pressure side (over 1200 PSI!!!!).
You could put one on the return side but I have never seen overheating of PS on a 4runner.

get the an fittings if you go with ps
... just for looks lol...
as you'll have the stock tranny cooler, the new tranny cooler, AND the PS cooler.
and ya, low pressure side, and there is no temp sensor for the ps so you're good to go.

thanks for the heads up guys... I will look further more into this... I read that it is a good idea to get a ps cooler when upgrading to larger tires... Is it a waste since I only have 295/75/16? If so, I'll probably just do the tranny cooler.

IMO its a waste for almost all... I cannot think of any situation where one would need a PS cooler on a runner. Unless you like to drive in figure 8's or just sit ina parking lot and trun your wheel back and forth you really don't need one, even with larger tires.

Best best for your PS system is to keep it flushed/clean with some decent additive maybe for your rack seals. No cooler needed unless you plan to drift the beast

Where are you going to buy your tranny cooler? I wanted to get one myself.

That pressure line to the PS is frigging insane. I uhhh "accidently" cut through it with a sawzall and that was one painful and expensive mistake !! A new pressure line from Toyota is ~$500... Luckily there is a "hose shop" in town and he welded it back together for me.

Damn in that case I am definately not touching the ps...

I am going to check around the local shops to see if they have it in stock and the prices... If all else fails, there is always eBay.
