transfer case leak 98 4Runner

I have a significant leak coming from the junction of the transfer case and the transmission. Is there a gasket that sits between the two or is there a seal for the input shaft of the transfer case? If there is a seal, is it a press fit or can I replace it without a press? Could I put RTV sealant between the transfer case and transmission?

Thanks for any help.

I had a leak on my transfer case that was from the front companion flange, i personally didn't do the work, my friend who is a ASE master mechanic had free time the day i wanted to fix it,so he did the work. I know he did not need a press to replace the oil seal where I was leaking from.

Here is a digagram of the Transfer case with locations of all the seals on it, I hope it helps.

Thanks for the diagram.

I pulled the transfer case off yesterday and replaced the front input seal. I am waiting for the the RTV sealant to cure before driving. The job wasn't that outrageous but there are several bolts that are tough to access without removing the transmission.

If anyone wants more details on the matter, I'd be happy to share.
