Transfer Case Heat

2 weeks ago when I was out at Silver lake on the sand dunes I almost burnt my hand on my transfer case shifter shifting back into 2H to drive back to the cabin. I was wondering if it was normal for the TC to heat up this much. this was after I was out on the dunes for about 1 hour.

Wow, I've never had that happen before. Thats gotta be pretty damn hot! I'd check your TC oil, make sure its properly serviced.

Ditto. I'd drain it and replace it with some Redline synthetic.
