Transaxle Actuator Alignment

Good-day Everyone;

I have a 2001 4Runner and the vent tube connected to the transaxle actuator had fallen off allowing it to corrode.

I've take this apart, cleaned it up well and the motor runs, and continuity is made when while the main actuator gear is spinning; all is good.

The problem that I am having is how do I position the main actuator gear when re-installing? There doesn't seem to be any indication of which way it should be lined up. I must have tried this 100 different ways and either the 4wd lights flash, or nothing flashes until the 2-4 button is pressed.

If anyone could provide some insight on this I would greatly, greatly appreciate it... I've been trying to fix this for a long time now;

Kindest Regards

Has anyone encountered a problem similar to this?

Well the way I would probably go about figuring it out would be to take the motor out, with gear, get someone to turn the 4X4 off while the gear is out, then somehow manually unlock the front ADD (I assume this is what your talking about) confirm it is unlocked, then install the motor.

Good luck

Thanks Yukon for your reply;

It's the actuator on the transaxle that is the issue, and it seems that when I rotate the gear, it changes the ADD actuator in the front diff so I'm assuming the both must be in harmony but I'm just not sure how to get there...
