Tps Q

My question back would be what were you reading where it said the TPS is adjustable on a 5VZ-FE motor?
Normally it is not an adjustable part on a 3.4L motor.

Thanks, that's what I figured. The parts guy at Toyota said it MAY be adjustable which threw me off a bit. Anyway, I put it in last night and what a difference! The power is way smoother all the way up to the redline now, Hugh difference!

You can test the TPS by using a digital multi meter and opening the throttle while taking a resistance reading. If you see any breaks in the resistance, the resistance changes in a non-linear fashion or there are resistance spikes, you'll need to change it out. Usually a bad TPS will give you a miss or stumbling as you accelerate, but not usually a bad idle.....I never say never though. Get out your DMM and do some testing if you suspect yours might be bad.

Dont think mine is bad but will had thought putting it on my list of things to check out when servicing the vehicle.
Just really looking to file these things away in my head...as she gets older, more repair items are certain to turn up.

My symptoms were subtle. Every once and a while the rig would seem to buck slightly when I'm steady on the gas. It also seemed to be bit hesitant at WOT too. But lately the idle, once warmed up, would still be at around 1200 rpm or so and finally the "check engine light" came on for a few minutes (and then cleared) so I took it into the dealership to get it read and they came up with the TPS code problem.
