Got a link to Performance Product's new site - Performance4Trucks.com. I noticed they now sell a Unichip for N/A and Supercharged 5VZs for a meager $950. But, it promises a 20% gain on supercharged engines. That's about the same $/HP for the supercharger.

Anyone have any experience with Unichips on other vehicles?

I'm thinking an SMT-5/6/7 might still be better but the Unichip may be simpler. Especially for those like me that don't have a laptop to take advantage of the real-time tuning on an SMT unit.

If you have fuel mods then I guess it could help because as you know the stock fuel system is pretty weak and already at its limits with the s/c but if they have a chip designed for s/c'd engines with fuel mods that could be worth it. I guess shoot them an email. Those prices are a bit high. You better get an ECU swap or something so you don't have any down time for that price. Chips are a lot more effective with forced induction but not as much with and S/C b/c they don't control boost. I don't know if its worth the $900

Another thing to consider in my rig is that my ECU was modified by EL Prototypes a few years ago. I have an e-mail into them to see what else they might be able to do and see if they can do it cheaper than the Unichip since they had my ECU before.

I guess we'll see what pans out.

Ya' know Alan... I bought a laptop for $100 to dedicate to my SMT. It's a WHOLE lot cheaper than the Unichip and gives you a lot more control. Actually, it may better be said that it GIVES YOU control.

I would really look again at dropping an SMT or a Split Second FTC1 in there. I'm running with stock injectors and stock fuel pump - and by using the SMT, I have no ping or leaning out. In fact, I can flood the engine if I want.
