Are there any consequences to lowering the torsion springs?

I got under my 4runner and noticed the bolts were tightened way up.

Anybody have a stock measurement from the top of a 15" tire rim to the bottom of the wheel well fender?

Torsion springs? Do you mean torsion bar? If you are speaking front then my measurement is approx. 13.75 in. I do have aftermarket rims on so It may be a bit different. Hope this helps.

I don't know of the consequences in lowering them, but mine measure about 14 inches from stock rim to fender bottom.

Factory is 13.5 to 14". I'm at 14.5-14.75" to level out with the Downey HD springs. Only consequence is you'll need an alignment.

Mine is set at 14.25".

have you got any rear lift or is that stock? (15 inch rims?)

That is close to where I was before I lifted to level out the front with the back after the Downey lift. Your truck probably sags like all 2nd gens do to some degree. Why not get the Downey HD springs or Performance Products springs? Downey also sells a 1.5" spacer you can put on top of your springs but I don't see the point since the springs give a little more lift but increase the load carrying without hurting the ride. They actually improved my ride substantially.

I got Downey HD springs(and love em) and stock 15" wheels.

got a little confused. I though Cat-o-lean was at 14.25". I'm of the opinion that it is better to lift the back to level with the front than dropping the front. You lose ground clearance and my truck actually rides better now than it did before when it was lower.

Hawaiian 4R - is the back of your truck real high? Mine is slightly higher in the rear with about 14 5/8" in the front.

Mine seems only slightly higher in the rear. I measured from the ground to the bottom of the wheel well fender to be 36".
