Question Top end rebuild?

Well I have to go throught the dealership to have a motor done as my last ditch effort could not get the motor swap done. So this is what Yota is dong:
Getting a brand new short block and utilizing my old top end after it has gone to a machine shop for checking. What should I have them do to the top end, rebuild it, rework the heads, rings replace? I am not engine inclined and could use some advice from the experts if possible.
Now come to find out I am going on temporary duty starting Monday for an undisclosed period!!! Wife is reallllllllllll happy!!

sounds like you don't know your terminolgy the "top end" of the motor is everything above the block -- so that's just the heads(of course valves, camshafts and all the appropriate seals) and manifolds.

if you're getting a short block, it'll already have everything set up like the pistons and rings etc.

as for the original topic, have them check the heads for cracks and warpage(if warped have them shaved just enough to correct it), replace the valve seals, have the valves lapped(ensures a tight compression seal), and of course cleaned
