What would you recommend for me for new tires on my 1999 SR5 4x4?

I've been running:
BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A - KO
LT275/70R16 - 31.1" X 10.8"

I love the look of these tires and I got close to 60,000 miles out of them, so you know most of my driving is on the highway.

I was not impressed however, with the performance of the tires on the snow.

I thought before I ran out and buy a new set of BFG's I'd ask your input.

Alright man...I just went through this same thing.

I ended up getting a tire called the Lemans, its made by Bridgestone but its a "Private Label"...very nice tire. They are mounted on my Dads '98 Chevy pickup and I have spent about an hour testing them out in our pasture on the trails and have not gotten them to spin yet.

We were about to go with the Revo's but for one they weren't in stock and two these are about 200 bucks cheaper. The Lemans are a 10-ply tire with deep outer shoulders for good water expulsion...supposed to be some of the best other than Revos in snow and rain and all that precipitation crap.

Pretty much, what is your price range and what are you wanting to do with them?

If I were you, I would just go to the local tire shop and tell them what you want to do and your price range, see what they say, come back here, post about it and we can tell you whether thats total BS or some good advice.

REVO's are from Bridgestone. If you do a search on REVO you'll find that it's a popular tire on this forum.

I made the switch about 3 months ago from the stock Wranglers that came on my 98 to Bridgestone A/T Revos. 265 70R16's (same size)

The difference in traction was clearly noticeable.

I used to spin out when accelerating uphill on rainy days and used to hydroplane lots with my Wranglers.

That's not a problem with my Revo's. Also, I got to use them on the recently snowy/ slick hills of Seattle this past week. While everyone else was slipping and sliding everywhere. I felt like Spiderman.

I had my Wranglers for about 60k miles. I've had my Revo's for about 3 months. The only somewhat negative I can talk about with my new Revo's is the gas mileage.

I used to be able to go on average, 280-295 miles on a full tank before refilling. Now I have to refill at 240-250 miles. But I would gladly trade gas mileage for safety and traction.

Bought my tires at Costco in Issaquah. Had to special order them. Paid about $160 per tire, mounted- installed and everything. No problem with the balance either.

i got the revos and i was running them at pismo. i should have run them a little more deflated though.

they are GREAT on the streets and off road as well.

I have no problems with the bfg ko's in the snow. I think they are an excellent tire and i will buy them again.

I replaced the LTX's with Revo's 4 months ago. 9K miles later, they are three times the tire the LTX were. Mud and rain don't compare. A little louder but about the same on the highway. Extremely sticky on the pavement. The LTXs were $520 and the Revo's were $575. Those reviews speak for themselves. My brother put some on his MB ML 430. He drives mainly on the Atlanta asphalt jungle, some snow and he said they ride a lot better than the Dunlaps that they replaced.

I run BFG ATs, no problems. If you are experiancing snow handling probs, lay off the gas or put in 4HI, RWD kind of "blows in the snow" as I like to say. ATs have a severe weather rating so I don't think it is a tire prob. If you want another AT, try the procomp maybe, it also has the severe weather rating. I don't have any experiance with Revos but I hear good things. However just looking at them I would never look twice If I was buying new tires. They just don't seem tough to me but I don't know for sure. If they are as good as people say they are than traditional tire logic has been defied, and quite well I might add. All I ever ran were some wranglers and now my ATs, I know what will replace them, BFG ATs!

I've got the regular Bridgestone Dueler ATs (non-revos) and I love them. I had them before the Dueler craze started, and before revos existed. I've got about 50k miles on them, and I can see the end of the road. If I didn't live in the snowy Northeast, they'd be good for at least another 10, but with my family, I want to know my tread is good.

I've had them in all conditions, road, dirt, mud, rain, snow, slush, rocks - everything. The only time I had any trouble with them was in 12+ inches of fresh powder (long story). they didn't clean fast enough to get me through that kind of snow. But under normal driving conditions, and off-road, I love them. Would get another set in a heartbeat.
