Tires Questions
I just bought a 96 4Runner that has 31x10.5R15s on it that need replacing. The stock tires are, of course, 225/75R15s. It does have the stock 15"x7" rims on it, and as far as I can tell, everything else is stock. I will drive it to work and back everyday on the highway, but I would like to have the ability to do some light mudding. My first question is, are 31s a good size for me? My second question, which is more important, if I stick with the 31s as I'm thinking I will unless anyone has a huge problem with that, will a 31 fit in the spare cavity? It has an old 225/75R15 in it that has never been on the ground, but has probably been on there for years, so I'm planning on replacing it. Thanks!

My 96 4Runner is exactly like yours, I have the factory 15x7 alloys that came OEM with 225/75R15's and my first set of tires were Dunlop 31x10.50R15's. I would not recommend Dunlop but the 31's are a good size to run stock. Also, I had no problems fitting a 31" where the stock spare goes. I have a BFG 32's now and they also fit in the stock spare location. Welcome to the forum!

Ha Ha, No! But seriously, post pics when you get the new tires - I would like to see how yours turns out. I am thinking of going with the Goodyear MTR's for my next set.

Went with the REVOs (30x9.5R15s). All I have to say is that they are quieter than my old Michelin LTX M/S's THAT WERE BALD! When I left the tire place, I got her up to about 85 and then let off the gas and I thought my engine had died because it was so quiet. I cannot imagine why any tire needs to make a ton of noise now that I have these. I will definitely be buying these in the future.
I haven't gotten a chance to drive in the rain yet, but I can definitely tell they are grippier than anything I've ever driven on. I'm moving to Arkansas next month and can't wait to get in the backwoods with these puppies also!
Hopefully I'll post some better pics after this weekend - the truck is long overdue for a wash/wash/etc.
